So Bento files it like one. Every capture becomes a numbered frame on a contact sheet, with a screenshot, the date, and a grease pencil circle on the ones worth keeping.

Two pieces: a browser extension that captures the tab you are on, and this site, which lays them out. You host it, so the bookmarks are yours.

Signup asks for an invite code. It is f1c0485e0e3a, published on purpose: it keeps automated signups off a free tier, not people.

Capture in one click

The extension saves the tab you are on: title, address, icon, and a screenshot of what you were looking at.

Laid out as a sheet

Frames in nine varying sizes rather than a uniform card wall, so a sheet reads like a sheet and not a spreadsheet.

Search, tag, file

Folders, tags and starring, all filterable and all shareable as a url. A loupe for looking closer, and a palette for getting anywhere.

Yours alone

Accounts are scoped in SQL rather than filtered in code, so two people on one deployment never see each other's sheets.

The extension puts the page you are on onto your sheet in one click, with its title, its icon and a screenshot. Adding by hand here works too, it just cannot take the picture.

Loading it

  1. 1. Unzip the download.
  2. 2. Open chrome://extensions, or edge://extensions.
  3. 3. Switch on Developer mode, choose Load unpacked, and pick the unzipped folder.
  4. 4. Open the popup, paste this site's address and the token below.

Your browser will warn about developer mode every time it starts. That is the price of installing an extension from outside a store, not a sign anything is wrong. Chrome refuses to install a packaged .crx from anywhere but its own store, so loading the folder is the only way to sideload one.

Built like a darkroom

One design language across the extension and the site. Every border is a one pixel inset hairline, never a drop shadow. Nothing has a border radius. Depth is a fixed alpha ladder, so a hover and a focus differ by a rung rather than by a new colour. Nothing on the page is a browser default: the dropdowns, the checkboxes and the scrollbars are all drawn, because one native control is enough to make a design look unfinished.
